Summary

Yes. ShopIQ hosts merchant websites on ShopIQ Cloud by default. ShopIQ manages the hosting, server infrastructure, database, cloud storage, deployment, and production environment for standard merchant accounts.

Who this is for: This article is for merchants who want to understand where their ShopIQ website is hosted, how development and production hosting work, and whether they need separate hosting.

Does ShopIQ host my website?

Yes. ShopIQ hosts websites on ShopIQ Cloud by default. This means merchants do not need to purchase separate website hosting, configure servers, manage databases, or set up cloud storage for standard ShopIQ websites.

What does ShopIQ hosting include?

  • Website hosting
  • Server infrastructure
  • Database
  • Cloud storage
  • Deployment
  • Development environment
  • Production environment

This allows merchants to focus on building and managing the store instead of maintaining technical infrastructure.

Do I need to buy separate hosting?

No. Standard merchants do not need to buy separate hosting for their ShopIQ website. The website is hosted on ShopIQ Cloud as part of the ShopIQ platform. Merchants may still need to purchase their own domain name separately if they want to use a custom domain.

What is the development environment?

When a website is being created or edited, it first runs in a development environment at a temporary URL such as https://project-id.dev.shopiq.app. This environment is used for building, reviewing, testing, and making changes before publishing.

Development servers may sleep after around 15 minutes of inactivity. They wake again when the merchant or implementation partner opens the project.

What is the production environment?

When the merchant publishes the website, it moves to production infrastructure at a URL such as https://project-id.shopiq.app. Production websites remain online continuously and do not sleep due to inactivity. This is the version that can be shared with customers and connected to a custom domain.

Can I use my own hosting or deploy to my own GitHub?

No. Standard merchants cannot host ShopIQ websites on their own hosting or cloud infrastructure. ShopIQ does not currently support merchant-managed deployment to AWS, GCP, Azure, DigitalOcean, GitHub, or other custom infrastructure.

Implementation Partners may have additional deployment flexibility to their own or their client's GitHub or Vercel. Custom deployment to other cloud providers is not supported.

Can I connect my own domain while using ShopIQ hosting?

Yes. Merchants can use ShopIQ hosting and connect their own domain. The domain is purchased separately and connected through the Settings section using A Record and CNAME Record DNS mapping.

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

If a merchant cancels the subscription, access continues until the end of the current billing cycle. After that, a 30-day grace period applies during which the merchant can reactivate. After the grace period, the website, hosting, database, storage, and associated services are suspended until the subscription is reactivated.

Does hosting consume AI credits?

No. Website hosting, cloud storage, receiving orders, receiving payments, viewing the dashboard, and manual store management do not consume AI credits. AI credits are consumed when merchants use AI Chat or AI tools for AI-powered tasks.

Important things to know

ShopIQ hosting is designed to remove infrastructure complexity for merchants. Merchants are still responsible for their website content, products, images, policies, pricing, customer data usage, fulfillment, taxes, and compliance.
