How do payment gateway integrations work?
Summary
Payment gateway integrations allow merchants to accept online payments through supported providers such as Razorpay, PhonePe, Stripe, PayPal, and other available gateways. Payments are processed through the merchant's own payment gateway account. ShopIQ does not collect payments on behalf of merchants.
Who this is for: Merchants who want to connect a payment gateway and accept online payments through their ShopIQ store.
What is a payment gateway integration?
A payment gateway integration connects a merchant's ShopIQ store with a third-party payment provider. The payment gateway helps process online payments from customers during checkout. Depending on the provider, customers may be able to pay using methods such as UPI, debit cards, credit cards, net banking, wallets, international cards, and other supported methods. Available payment methods depend on the payment provider and merchant account setup.
Which payment gateways does ShopIQ support?
- Razorpay
- PhonePe
- Stripe
- PayPal
- Other available payment providers depending on setup
The merchant should check available payment apps inside ShopIQ or contact ShopIQ Support or an Implementation Partner.
Who owns the payment gateway account?
The merchant owns and manages the payment gateway account. The merchant is responsible for creating the provider account, completing KYC, adding bank details, enabling payment methods, managing settlements, handling refunds, reviewing failed payments, managing chargebacks, understanding gateway fees, and following provider rules. ShopIQ provides the integration layer where supported.
Does ShopIQ collect payments on behalf of merchants?
No. ShopIQ does not collect payments on behalf of merchants. Payments are processed by the merchant's connected payment gateway. Settlements go according to the payment provider's settlement rules and merchant account setup.
Does a payment gateway count as a connected app?
Yes. Each payment gateway integration counts as one connected app. For example, Razorpay counts as one connected app and Stripe counts as one connected app. If a merchant disconnects a payment gateway, the connected app slot is freed immediately.
Does connecting a payment gateway consume AI credits?
No. Connecting a payment gateway and receiving payments do not consume AI credits. AI credits are consumed only when the merchant uses AI-powered tasks, such as analyzing payment failures or creating customer communication.
What should I test after connecting a payment gateway?
- Checkout flow
- Successful payment
- Failed payment
- Payment status update
- Order creation
- Refund workflow
- Customer confirmation
- Currency settings, where applicable
- Tax and invoice behavior
- Mobile checkout experience
ShopIQ does not control gateway approval, KYC rules, transaction fees, settlements, failed payment handling, refund timelines, chargebacks, or provider downtime.
