How do connected apps work?

Summary

Connected apps are third-party integrations linked to a ShopIQ store. Each external integration counts as a connected app under the merchant's plan. Connected apps can support payments, shipping, WhatsApp, analytics, marketing, marketplace workflows, and other commerce operations.

Who this is for: Merchants who want to understand connected app limits, how third-party apps are counted, and how integrations affect store workflows.

What is a connected app?

A connected app is an external third-party service connected to a ShopIQ store. Connected apps allow ShopIQ to send or receive information from external tools where supported. For example, a payment gateway receives payment information, a logistics partner receives shipment details, a WhatsApp provider sends customer messages, Google Analytics receives website activity data, Meta Pixel tracks customer actions for advertising, and a marketplace integration may support marketplace-related workflows.

How do connected apps work in ShopIQ?

A merchant connects a supported third-party app to their ShopIQ store. The app may require authentication, account details, API keys, permissions, or provider setup. Once connected, the app can support specific workflows based on its purpose — payment processing, shipment creation and tracking, WhatsApp campaigns and messages, traffic and behavior tracking, marketing and performance data, or marketplace-related commerce data. The exact behavior depends on the app and integration.

Do connected apps count toward my plan limit?

Yes. Each external third-party integration counts toward the connected app allowance in the merchant's plan. For example, Razorpay counts as one connected app, Shiprocket counts as one connected app, WATI counts as one connected app, Google Analytics counts as one connected app, and Meta Pixel counts as one connected app. Native ShopIQ features do not count as connected apps.

What does not count as a connected app?

Native ShopIQ capabilities do not count as connected apps. Examples include the dashboard, product catalog, order management, AI Chat, AI Website Builder, CMS, blogs, coupons, policy pages, ShopIQ Cloud hosting, team management, permissions, and manual editing tools. Connected apps refer only to external third-party integrations.

Can I disconnect a connected app?

Yes. A connected app can be disconnected where supported. Disconnecting an app frees the connected app slot immediately. However, related features may stop working after disconnection. For example, if a payment gateway is disconnected, customers may not be able to pay online through that gateway.

Can I replace one connected app with another?

Yes. A merchant can disconnect one app and connect another supported app, subject to integration availability and plan limits. After replacing an app, the merchant should test affected workflows.

What happens if I reach my connected app limit?

If a merchant reaches the connected app limit, they may need to disconnect an unused app, replace an existing app, upgrade to a higher plan, or contact ShopIQ Support or an Implementation Partner. Merchants should keep only necessary integrations active.

Do connected apps consume AI credits?

No. Connected apps do not consume AI credits by themselves. AI credits are consumed only when AI is used to create, analyze, summarize, or generate outputs using available data or workflows.

Merchants should avoid disconnecting payment, logistics, WhatsApp, or analytics apps without understanding the impact on customers, orders, campaigns, and reporting.
