Payments, Checkout & Orders

How does checkout work in ShopIQ?

Summary

ShopIQ provides an ecommerce checkout experience where customers can add products to cart, enter required details, choose available payment options, and place orders. The checkout experience depends on the merchant's configured products, pricing, shipping rules, payment gateway, and order settings.

Who this is for: Merchants who want to understand how customers place orders on a ShopIQ-powered online store.

What is checkout?

Checkout is the final step of the online shopping journey. During checkout, the customer confirms what they want to buy, provides required details, selects available payment options, and places the order.

A checkout flow usually includes:

  • Cart review
  • Product quantity confirmation
  • Customer details
  • Shipping address
  • Payment option
  • Order summary
  • Coupon or discount, if applicable
  • Final order confirmation

How does checkout work in ShopIQ?

When a customer visits a ShopIQ website, they can browse products, view product details, select variants where available, add products to cart, and proceed to checkout. The checkout experience uses the merchant's configured store settings — including product prices, product variants, coupons, shipping rules, payment gateway, customer details, and order confirmation.

Can customers apply coupons during checkout?

Yes. Merchants can create coupons in ShopIQ. Customers can use available coupons during checkout where configured. Merchants should check coupon rules, validity, discount amount, minimum order value, and product eligibility before promoting any offer.

Can customers select product variants during checkout?

Customers select variants before adding products to cart or during the buying journey, depending on the product page experience. ShopIQ supports up to 5 variant options per product — including color, size, material, and 2 custom options. Merchants should ensure that product variants are correctly configured before customers start placing orders.

Can customers pay online?

Yes, customers can pay online if the merchant has connected and configured a supported payment gateway. ShopIQ supports payment gateway integrations such as Razorpay, PhonePe, Stripe, PayPal, and other available payment providers depending on setup and region. Payments are processed by the merchant's connected payment gateway.

ShopIQ does not collect payments on behalf of the merchant.

What happens after an order is placed?

After an order is placed, the merchant is responsible for reviewing and fulfilling the order. The merchant should check payment status, products ordered, quantity, customer information, shipping address, delivery requirements, stock availability, and fulfillment status. ShopIQ helps with order management, but the merchant remains responsible for actual fulfillment.

Does checkout consume AI credits?

No. Customer checkout, order placement, receiving payments, receiving orders, and manual order management do not consume AI credits. AI credits are consumed only when the merchant uses AI-powered tasks such as AI analytics, AI customer replies, AI-generated content, catalog generation, image generation, or video generation.

Important things to know

Checkout should be tested before launch. Merchants should place test orders where appropriate and verify that products, prices, coupons, taxes, payment gateway, customer details, shipping rules, and order notifications work as expected.
